Website of ExcellenceAfter its 2005 Website Excellence honors, the web team decided to raise the bar. While the 2005 site was elaborate and well planned, it was too heavy. The purely flash site took long to load and was overly ornate. This year's concept, minimalism and functionality. Andy took the ball and ran with it. He produced a top notch mockup, and so, and idea was born.

After some deliberation and tweaking, Afrooz added his touches and began splicing up the site for CSS. Soon the template was done and content could be added.

The rationale behind the switch to CSS/XHTML was that of usabilty. By conforming to web standards, iHOT ensures that the website can be easily enjoyed on most modern browsers. To guarantee this, the web team went to great lengths to ensure that the site is XHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS valid. The page is also designed to be presentable on all screen sizes from 800x600 on upwards. Adding to the user experience are the "goodies," as Afrooz puts them. The site features a new RSS feed, an interactive discussion board, some subdued flash elements, and more. To ensure that all of those features work, the site uses a backend that runs on Javascript, CGI, PHP, and more.

The site was coded using Adobe's Dreamweaver, and designed on photoshop and blender. The sub team links were rendering with the gracious help of Animation team leader, Matthew Keeter.

Much of the work on the forum was done by Programming team leader and Co-captain, Adrien Pellerin.
