3D-animation involves creating a movie with objects modeled in three dimensions; therefore the process is very similar to actual movie making. First you must model the characters and backgrounds in the scene using 3D tools. Next, you add materials and textures (ex. Colors, metallic shininess, transparency, etc.). Next, you move objects around and record their motion, similar to what a real camera does. Then you can tweak and improve the animation. Last, you render the frames of the animation to form a movie. Currently the IHOT animation team uses Discreet 3dsMax 7, a professional quality 3D modeling/animation suite used in the makings of many movies for special effects. The software allows us to simulate real-life objects, which is the main goal of 3D-animation: making objects look lifelike and believable.
Our animation was the proud recipient of the Peachtree Regional and the National Championship 3ds Max Visualization Award.
